We understand that many ILAS members are looking around optimistically at the land drying out as the weekend approaches. Unfortunately, ILAS Field remains unusable just for the moment - the landing strip and taxiways are still quite soft after the exceptional rainfall in the southeast over the last few months, and it hasn’t been possible to get a tractor onto the field to cut the grass yet.
Hence, the Breakfast Fly-in proposed for this Sunday (April 21) is postponed for the moment. We expect that it will be necessary to re-evaluate conditions towards the end of next week at the earliest. We note the Sligo Airport Breakfast Fly-In on April 28, 2024 and our intention would be to not clash with that.
