The Irish Light Aviation Society (ILAS) was formed in 2009 when members of CAACI (Classic Aircraft & Aerobatic Club of Ireland) and SAAC (Society of Amateur Aircraft Constructors) decided to merge both organisations. The purpose of the organisation is to promote the construction, restoration and operation of aircraft for recreation in Ireland.
The organisation has over 70 aircraft on its books including the 1935 BA Swallow, a 1945 Piper Cub, a 2006 SeaRey Amphibian up to the latest new homebuilt Vans RV7 of which there are now 4 on our register and a number of others in build. The list of approved aircraft can be viewed here and more detailed information is on the ‘Background’ page.
ILAS members normally meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. This is an informal affair and visitors from home and abroad are very welcome. See more details on our News Page as to venue and other items of interest such as our Annual Fly-In. Email us on our contact form for more information.
